Fabian is a doctoral student at the Universität Hamburg and Aby Warburg Fellow at the Warburg Institute London. He holds a BA in Art History and French Philology from the Ruhr-Universität Bochum and a MA in Art History from the Universität Hamburg. In his studies he focused on the French Nineteenth-Century and the History of Photography. This lead to his MA-thesis on „Zeitlichkeit, Identität und Erinnerung in den Fotografien des Vieux Paris von Eugène Atget“ [“Temporality, Identity and Memory in the Photographs of the Vieux Paris by Eugène Atget”].
Fabians PhD project looks at post-war photographic exhibitions. He is interested in the interplay of photographic materiality and the presentation of photographs in print and exhibitions.
